Storms with high winds knocked down power lines across the state.

Power outages stretch from north of Grand Rapids in a line running down to just north of Toledo, Ohio.

Consumers Energy estimates close to 200 thousand customers are without power at this time. Strong storm winds ranging from 60-100 miles per hour at some point rolled into West Michigan last evening damaging trees and knocking down limbs. Most of the damage done has been limited with no reports of severe damage.

The storm damage has impacted several institutions. As a result of the power outages, Grand Rapids Public announced they would be cancelling classes for today.

Sad news to report as a woman and two children were killed in a car crash during the storm. Kent County Sheriffs say the woman was driving along 18 Mile Road in Spencer Township when she lost control of the vehicle. Two other people were injured.

In Ingham County, the Department of Emergency Management says injuries were reported when several cars and trucks on I-96 where hit with the high winds. MDOT was working to clean up the roadway near Williamston and Webberville after downed trees made the road impassable.

Encouraging Words From Your Bible

Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This “foolish” plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God's weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.
