The virus can present itself as an ordinary cold, but if left untreated, could lead to more dangerous conditions.

Kent County health leaders say mosquitoes carrying the dangerous Jamestown Canyon virus have been found in the West Michigan county. The infected bugs have turned up in the 49504 area code after testing was conducted over the last several weeks. The virus mostly causes headaches, fatigue and fever but can sometimes lead to severe brain damage if not treated.

The Health Department recommends:

-- Wear a mosquito repellent that contains at least 10 to 35 percent DEET.

-- Wear light colored and long-sleeved shirts and pants.

-- Stay indoors during dusk to reduce your risk of being bitten.

--Remove or refresh water in bird baths, children’s wading pools, water bowls for your pets, and empty other small containers that can collect water in your yard.

--Ensure window screens are in good repair.

All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?”
