There were more rescue attempts in Lake Michigan due to high waves and windy conditions.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich.  — The Department of Public Safety urges beachgoers to monitor flag conditions at public beaches and be careful when high wind and waves create strong undercurrents.  Swimmers are advised not to enter the water.

Grand Haven State Park announced yesterday that the swimming area would be closed because of water conditions and swimming emergencies.

Officers were called to the beach to help rescue a number of people who were from out-of-state.

Two women in the 20's from Indiana were "in distress" and needed help getting back to the shore.  Also a 13-year-old boy from Indiana was in distress beyond the swim buoys.  His father jumped in to help but he also started to struggle.  State Park Rangers and officers were able to save the two of them.

Lake conditions will continue to be evaluated each day.
