A homeowner fatally shot an intruder just after midnight. He may be tied to other thefts.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — In investigation is underway after a man from Middleville, was fatally shot during an alleged break-in.

It was just after midnight that police were called to a home along 108th Street SW near Wilson Avenue near Byron Center in Kent County.

Police say the man was forcibly trying to get into the house when the homeowner shot him.  The two did not know each other.

Authorities were able to locate the man not far from the house.  He died from his injuries.

There is also an investigation as to whether the same man was involved in two other vehicle thefts overnight.
