SKYWARN training is offering four sessions during the next week, for those interested in becoming a weather spotter.

2022 Ottawa/Kent County SKYWARN trainings will be held virtually this year.

Four trainings are being offered by the Grand Rapids National Weather Service this spring:

  • 7-8pm - Thursday, March 17 - All of Southwest and South-Central Lower Michigan
  • 7-8pm - Friday, March 18 - Grand Rapids/Holland Area
  • 7-8pm - Tuesday, March 29 - Battle Creek/Kalamazoo Area
  • 7-8pm - Wednesday, March 30 - Lansing/Jackson Area

The trainings are virtual, making it easier than ever to become a weather spotter. Attendance is free but registration is required. Register online

Recommended for ages 14 and older. Training IS NOT community specific however, there will be a historical weather emphasis on the area specified in the schedule. Please attend any session that fits in your schedule.

Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week will be held March 20-26, 2022.

Severe Weather Awareness Week is a good time to determine; Do you have a plan? Where will you go? What will you do? Do you know the alert systems in your area? How will you communicate?

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
