At least three school districts in West Michigan plan to shut down due to staffing shortages.
Several school districts plan to cancel classes on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Rising sickness cases have resulted in staffing shortages. Galesburg-Augusta, Muskegon Public Schools and Wyoming Public Schools plan to take those days off in order to keep students safe. The districts report rising cases of illness have created a staffing shortage, and so they believe the best course of action is to give the week off. The hope being that time away will allow staff and students the time to recover.
With the additional time off, the districts also announced plans to use the time to provide cleanings for their classrooms.
