Governor Whitmer announces major investment dollars to build batteries, help supply chains, and grow the agricultural economy.
-Governor Whitmer was in Grand Rapids Wednesday to sign a proclamation announcing $4.1 billion in investments around the state.
The money is coming from the Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve Fund.
It is going to three different transformational projects and will generate 4,600 jobs across Big Rapids, Van Buren Township and Ottawa and Muskegon counties.
Two of the projects are in the electric vehicle battery industry.
Our Next Energy is expected to receive $1.6 billion to create 2,112 jobs when a new factory is built in Van Buren County.
Gotion Inc. will receive $2.3 billion to construct a new production facility in Big Rapids, which will boost the state's battery production capacity.
Muskegon County will get $60 million that will impact communities in Ottawa and Muskegon Counties. The project is intended to provide wastewater transport and disposal services for area agriculture companies.
