6/16/23 - Frozen Fruits Recalled At Walmart, Costco

You may need to check your freezer if you bought frozen strawberries from Walmart.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced this week that packages of frozen fruit are being recalled due to a potential Hepatitis A contamination. 

Willamette Valley Fruit Co. Said the packages contained strawberries grown in Mexico and were sold in Walmart stores in more than 30 states, including Michigan, as well as Costco Stores in 4 states – Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas.  

According to the FDA, affected products include: 

  • Walmart: Great Value Sliced Strawberries, Great Value Mixed Fruit, and Great Value Antioxidant Blend distributed to select Walmart stores in AR, AZ, CA, CO, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, and WY from January 24, 2023 to June 8, 2023.

Consumers are being urged to check their freezers for the recalled products and either throw it out or return it to the store for a refund. Any products with different lot codes or purchase dates or not subject to the recall.  

No illnesses have been reported to date.
