Severe weather in Southern Michigan impacts infant formula production.

The Abbott Nutrition plant in Sturgis, Michigan has had to stop production of their infant formula.

This time it was due to severe weather and flooding.

Parts of the plant were flooded and production was stopped as they assessed the damage and the facility was sanitized.

Comprehensive testing will be conducted before production resumes.  The delay in production could involve several more days.

Production of its EleCare specialty formula was stopped at Abbott. This is the same plant that forced Abbott to issue a recall of some of its formulas in February due to contamination issues.

The closure of the Sturgis facility, the largest in the U.S. and source of leading brands like Similac, exacerbated the industry-wide baby formula shortage. For several months, parents and caregivers have been scrambling as shelves increasingly become more barren. Meanwhile, retailers were forced to put purchasing limits on the product to try and curtail stockpiling.

As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.
