Early Monday Monday morning earthquakes and aftershocks impact parts of Turkey and Syria and several hundred people have lost their lives.
It was early this morning that a 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked southeastern Turkey and northern Syria.
About 12 hours later, a second earthquake of 7.6 magnitude struck southern Turkey.
Authorities estimate that roughly 1,300 lives have been lost and over 5,000 injured.
Over 28-hundred buildings were said to have toppled.
The European Union said they have mobilized 10 search and rescue teams in response to the tragedy. The teams include crews from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Romania.
The EU said it is also ready to offer support to Syria through its humanitarian assistance programs.
