2/16/24 - FEMA Says Help Is Available For Summer Storm Victims

FEMA wants to make sure that victims of the August 2023 storms in West Michigan could be eligible for disaster assistance.

(News Release) - 2/16/24 - Earlier this week, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) issued a news release regarding the availability of disaster assistance for residents impacted by the August 24 - 26 tornadoes, severe storms, and flooding.

This assistance could include temporary lodging, basic home repairs, and other disaster-related expenses. We wanted to ensure that you received this information and are equipped to share it with your audience.

Residents who suffered property damage or other losses due to this weather event can now apply for assistance from FEMA.

They can do so by either calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 or going online at disasterassistance.gov to complete the application.            It's important to note that multilingual operators are available to assist those who may require language support.

FEMA's news release also includes helpful tips and information that residents should have ready before calling or completing the application.

Additionally, FEMA will be establishing a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in the area where residents can go if they have questions about eligibility or the application process. Additional information will soon be released.
