Airspace over Lake Michigan was closed and then a Military jet shot down on object over Lake Michigan on Sunday.
-An FAA notice said that US government agencies, including the Defense Department, “may take security action” against unmanned aircraft in the area that are deemed to pose a “credible safety or security threat.”
Sunday afternoon a U.S. fighter jet shot down an "unidentified object" over Lake Huron.
It was the fourth such downing in eight days.
Pentagon officials said they posed no security threats but not much is known about them and they could interfere with commercial airspace.
The latest object to be brought down was first detected over Montana on Saturday. Airspace over Lake Michigan was closed on Sunday and the object was picked up again over the U.P of Michigan and over Lake Huron. It was flying low at about 20,000 when an air national guard fighter shot down the object over the lake. The Pentagon believes the object most likely fell into Canadian waters.
The downing came after earlier objects over Alaska and Canada were shot down because they were flying at altitudes that posed a threat to commercial aircraft.
