The recall affects over 11 million pounds of meat, A lot of those products were sold to Michigan schools.
Nine area schools are believed to have received meat recalled by the USDA. The Department says the recall was prompted by listeria concerns but did not specify where the potential contamination occurred. The meat was also sold as an unnamed brand at Meijer, Target, Trader Joe’s and other stores. The schools involved are not part of the USDA’s School lunch program and may have purchased the products through other vendors.

There have been no reports of serious listeria related illness, but most people won't experience severe symptoms. The elderly and the young or people with compromised immune systems are morel likely to be affected.
