God has blessed us with 10 years together after He chose to take our spouses to Heaven. We are so grateful for our children & grandchildren. We have shared many tears, trails, laughter & friendship, with God as our foundation.  We have experienced His peace during Challenging times and faithfulness in so many years. Remembering the scripture read at our wedding, in summary, I Corinthians 13:4-6 and 13, “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrong, Loves does not delight in evil, but rejoices with truth. Today marks the 11th year that our daughter Dana, forever 26 years-old, transitioned into the arms of her loving Savior. Her love, tenderness, spunk and compassion for Christ, shined bright to those around her and her PICU patients. Her life set an example through random acts of kindness. It is so difficult to walk in the legacy of a child, so we have chosen to follow in her footsteps and practice Dana’s Legacy Acts of Kindness. This tribute and sponsoring WCSG for today allows us the blessing to give back the way WCSG has given to us.  Dana's life verse, Galatians 2:20 reads, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave His life for me."

In Nov of 2020, my wife was admitted to the hospital with the COVID 19 virus and within a week was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit were her condition only worsened to the point the ventilator became the only option.

As I was praying asking God for a miracle, Jesus placed on my heart the story of Lazarus. As Jesus entered the city of Bethany, he was met by Martha, Mary and friends of the family. As with any loss of a loved one there was an out pouring of grief and sorrow, Jesus was deeply moved in his spirit and he wept.

After meeting with the Lung doctor, we decided to try one last round of steroid treatments. In less than a week, my wife was moved out of the Intensive Care. Two weeks later on Christmas Day, she was released from the hospital.

The story of Lazarus is one of many examples in the bible of the unconditional love Jesus has for each one of us. Whatever the circumstances we encounter, Jesus shares in our pain, in our sorrow and our heartbreak.

Sadie was just nine weeks old when she received a liver transplant from her dad, Randy. She used her countless hospitalizations to tell others about Jesus - It was her personal mission field. And even with chronic illness, she was at peace and always trusted her Lord.

Sadie was honored to be selected as Homecoming Queen at Hamilton High School. She served as a manager for various girls’ sports teams studied ballet at Turning Pointe School of Dance and graduated from the Ready For Life program at Hope College. A lifelong desire, Sadie made a trip to Israel, with Under the Fig Ministries - She felt such joy to walk where Jesus walked.

Sadie took no birthday for granted and celebrated with pink, bling, popcorn and donuts. She would be 32 today. We know we’ll hold her again in heaven where Sadie danced into the arms of her loving and faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.

It is hard to believe 12 years have passed since our joy turned to grief so quickly on that day you were to be born. So much has changed. You now have 3 little brothers on earth and 3 grandmas in heaven with you.

We talk about you with your brothers often, and they are reminded of you in their prayers every night before bed.

We serve a loving God, and find comfort and peace knowing you are in heaven with Jesus and our faithful heavenly father.

We will always struggle to understand why God chose to take you home so soon but Philippians 3:20 reminds us that “... our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” This gives us hope that we will see you again when we get to our Heavenly Home.

Dear little Case, you will always be missed, loved and never forgotten.

Today we join Jerry Dykstra of Grand Rapids as he celebrates the home-going of Kristine Lynn Dykstra in 2023 when she finished a courageous fight of cancer.

He notes that her family has comfort knowing that Kris is in heaven singing with the Heavenly Host. Kris, his dear wife of 52 years, is also missed by Kerry, Kim and Brad and 6 grandchildren to whom she was Grandma Mitten.

Kris entered heaven to be with Jesus, her dad, Casey Boersma, her sister Mary Huizenga, and her cousin Bill Wiersma.

Kris loved reading God's Word daily. She enjoyed participating in Bible Studies and found Psalm 23 was her comfort in her dying moments.
